Today I am just two days shy of 17 weeks. Wow, time is flying by!
Tim and I were back at the doctor last Wednesday for my latest checkup. This was the appointment where we would get to find out if the newest Kelly would be a she or he. Needless to say, we were beyond excited. It was such a big day! Besides the doctor, it was also the very last day of school for Tim...last final. It was also the last day of the best month I've had in a very long time at work and in my industry that means busy, busy, busy.
So the appointment is going great. My total weight gain is six pounds and the baby now weighs 5 onces. My blood pressure has raised a bit (which is good news since I fainted at HEB two weeks ago!!!). Our FirstScreen test came back negative which means it shows the lowest possiblity of our baby being born with Downs. So far, we're getting an A+ and for two middle children, Virgos, Tim and I are beaming!
Next, they wheel in the sonogram machine. Our nurse practitioner starts looking around and boy does the baby look so much more human this time around. We see the face, arms, hands, legs and feet. Again, Baby Kelly is moving around like crazy, but...our little one has decided to be very shy today and simply refuses to show us what we need to see to determine boy or girl.
Next, Dr. Seeker comes in to finish up the examine. He too is having trouble getting the baby to cooperate and gives us two choices...wait until next time or perform a different type of ultrasound. I literally thought Tim was going to burst. The anticipation was killing him! It was actually really cute. There was no way Tim was going to wait another month, so we opt for option two. A few minutes later we hear our doctor utter the words, "Now there's the money shot! You're having a baby girl, there are no boy parts in there."
Yes, we were right. We are going to have a GIRL! Tim and I were completely stunned, excited, relieved, happy and every other word that can be used as an adjective of "giddy". We have decided on the name Fiona Joan Kelly and we simply cannot wait to bring her home. The stars were definitely aligned as we received a beautiful picture of Tim's grandmother, Joan, in the mail that day from his Aunt Sallie. Very cool!
I'm finally starting to grow a little belly and as soon as it starts looking "pregnant" rather than just "bloated", I will post pics of the growing budha.
Can't wait to start feeling Fi's first kicks! I am told it will be any day now, but I'm dying for it to happen. From all the movement we've seen so far on the ultrasounds, it looks like I'm in for a very bumpy, but enjoyable ride.
My love to you all...H
