She finally said hello

As I've said before...my pregnancy has been pretty boring. Boring is good! It means that everything is going along as planned. No problems with the baby or mama, just healthy and happy. Well, as much reassurance as that may bring, it was still difficult to go this far (21 weeks) and besides growing a few inches on my belly (and thighs and butt and a few other places) have no real internal feeling of having a baby growing inside me.

Okay...that all changed last night. I blame Top Chef! They were in Puerto Rico on the show and making the most delicious, mouth watering dishes this prego lady has ever seen. Maybe I was whining about how hungry I was and Fiona just couldn't take it anymore; I'm not quite sure. But, as I was sitting on the couch, I felt something.

Now, let me say that over the past few weeks, she may have tried to "talk" to me before, but I just couldn't tell for sure. Last night, it was loud and clear! As I was sitting there I felt this thump, then immediately felt another. Slowly, I turned my head and Tim, with my mouth wide open said "I think she just kicked me." I was almost afraid to say the words out loud, because I didn't want to jinx myself. So, of course I did and felt no more movement.

Doubt set in. Maybe I just imagined it? Maybe I was just hungry and my stomach was gurgling from watching that yummy show. My mind was still racing. Tim and I lay down for the night and then "Wow...there it is again!!!" This time, I grabbed Tim's hand and put it on my belly where I felt the kicks. Sure enough, she was going to town; kicking enough to say "Hi Mom and Dad!".

We both looked at each other with these crazy smiles on our faces in shock. Reality really came crashing down last night (in a good way)...we're definitely having a baby and we couldn't be more thrilled to hear from her.

Tomorrow I go in for my next check-up. I can't wait to tell Dr. Seeker that about our visit from Fi last night. I'm so proud of her!

I promise to give a full update on our appointment next week. Fabulous weekend planned...hosting Natalie's shower, Tracey gets in tomorrow from Philly to cohost the shower and celebrate her birthday on Saturday, Tim's graduation "Revenge of the Nerds" party and my girls and I are off to see Cure play at the beautiful new Austin Music Hall on Sunday. Best part...Fi gets to enjoy it all with me!

My love to you all...H
